Um post curioso no Yahoo! Message Boards: GFI, um Forum sobre a empresa produtora de Ouro Sul-Africana GoldFields:
"Here is an anecdote that is every word a true story. Take it for what it is worth to you.
I had lunch yesterday with some colleagues including a scientist of Russian descent now living in the US. We were discussing Russian history and politics and he made the following comment: "the government would give us their propaganda about how great the economy was but everyone knew it wasn't so great, and how everything was getting better but we knew it wasn't. Then they created every kind of social program, got heavily into the space program, and finally pursued all of their military adventures. Then the whole thing collapsed."
I then got a laugh from the group by making what I thought was an obvious remark. I said "Are you still talking about Russia or are you talking about the US?" Think about it. The ruble was a valuable currency until one day it was worthless. Overnight it happened in Russia. Are the economic fundamentals and political shenanigans so different in the US? We may find ourselves someday holding worthless dollars just as some held rubles, and for the exact same reasons. The decision is yours, but I advise you to own gold. "
