Global Democratic Revolution

*Edmund Burke, the father of conservatism, wrote over 200 years ago: "The nature of man is intricate; the objects of society are of the greatest possible complexity; and therefore no simple disposition of direction of power can be suitable either to man's nature or to the quality of his affairs."

He wrote this with regards to French Revolution, so what then of a revolution that is being imposed by a foreign government that is viewed throughout the Muslim world as being irredeemably hostile towards Islam and Muslims?

Those Muslims who fight America do so believing they are defending Islam. If America continues to interfere in the affairs of Saudi Arabia, attempting to bully the government towards secularism and liberalism, it will have an opposite effect to what is intended. America's security doesn't lie in proving Bin Laden's claims of a war against Islam as being true; America's security lies in proving Bin Laden wrong by leaving the Muslim world to choose their own destiny, in their own time and in their own way.

Nota: GWB falou em Novembro de 2003 numa "Global Democratic Revolution" (digam o que disserem é uma expressão com conotações trotskistas – de que o próprio nem se apercebe - pouco própria de um conservador, e duvido que por exemplo, Thatcher se identifique com tal). Agora, o incrível é que o regime que alguns aconselham a depor está agora a ser atacado pela Al Quaeda e sofre em geral, pressões internas por exagerada cooperação - e depois dizem que a guerra no Iraque fez os Sauditas cooperarem mais na luta contra o terrorismo – portanto, revendo a matéria:

- primeiro, advoga-se a queda do regime Saudita.
- na sequência da queda do regime iraquiano, surge ou aumenta o terrorismo contra o regime saudita, o qual, dizem alguns, tem de cair, ao mesmo tempo que o terrorismo no próprio Iraque aparece do nada.
- depois conclui-se que o intervencionismo no Iraque, está na origem da cooperação Saudita (que “tem de cair” e é atacado por terroristas precisamente para cair).
